BUSINESS AGILITY – BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY DEFINED
In this week’s podcast we spoke about IT and business operations working hand in hand together, and whether or not there is a gap between operations and IT. As a business owner exploring business solutions, you should always be involved from the start to ensure the priorities are being followed accordingly. Coming in at the 11th-hour results in uncertainty and it is usually wasteful of everyone’s time because the priorities change, and this happens 99% of the time. Be involved from the start! Also, as a business owner, we know you aren’t going to spend years learning about business solutions as that’s not your role! But some common indicators or red flags your business is ready for a solution are 1. Not capturing the data once, and there are people entering timesheets, inventory, projects etc. from one place to another. You should always capture data once, and no more than that. 2. Spreadsheets – if you are running multiple spreadsheets on a full-time basis, you face inconsistencies, a high percentage of errors and corruption. 3. Reporting takes more than two seconds – It should not take you more than a few seconds to generate a report or information you need (ie. AR, Project status, inventory, manufacturing etc.) Reach out directly if you have any questions.
