Digital Transformation is one of the biggest buzzwords on the market, but did you know 70% of people don’t actually know what it is?
Digital Transformation is using software tools, to increase your efficiencies by at least two. This can include reducing overhead, streamlining processes, have better visibility for decision making, and automating tedious tasks.
There are three components that are mandatory for successful deployment of Digital Transformation, People, Processes and Tools.
Knowing the course of action to take when something happens is a process and in Digital Transformation, processes are needed to identify your requirements, and ultimately your tool.
Existing Processes are First
Know what you are currently doing and how you are operating is the foundation for building requirements, but also an opportunity to identify your inefficiencies and the cost of ownership associated with them.
Gather existing processes from top to bottom, including front line workers as input as well, because in many cases what corporate offices think is being done, is usually not the case, across different locations.
Based on your existing processes, you build-out requirements. When it comes to gathering requirements, you need specifics. Two companies doing the same thing will operate completely differently and ultimately have different needs. Dig deeper, if you need HR, what exactly do you want in HR? Compensation Management? Payroll? Employee profiles? Benefits tracking? Be thorough and diligent.
The Five W’s and the How
Who – Who needs to use this piece of functionality
What – What needs to be achieved with this
Where – Where will this take place? (shop, office, field etc.)
When – When will this be needed day to day?
Why – Why is this needed?
How – is this going to be captured?
Tool Selection is a process
Create an agenda and stick to it: Have every nitty-gritty detail defined.
Dates, and setting deadlines: This will give you remarkable insight into your people and prospective vendors as well.
Who: Ensure each team member is involved from start to finish
