CALGARY, AB May 14, 2015
Capital budgets and projects have been significantly cut or delayed. Project owners are asking for reduced rates and seeking ways to do things differently for any new projects. Agile service companies and EPCM contractors are looking for an edge to win the next project and deliver it successfully. We have seen bust and boom cycles in the oil patch for decades – this current down cycle is an opportunity to gain this edge permanently.
This month’s “Second Sunday Session” Oil and Gas mastermind was hosted at Seanachie in WestHills Calgary. Murray Quibell highlighted the real desire for change in how capital projects are managed, and presented 3 areas we can improve – reduce spreadsheets, real-time hour management, and practical Earned Value Management (EVM). His presentation highlighted several examples of how capital projects can be better managed. As a followup, Murray invited attendees of the event to join him for two upcoming workshops. Workshop format included interactive discussion and live online software tools.
“Thanks Murray for your excellent presentation! I never really understood Earned Value Management until your practical explanation in 5 minutes today!”
